The Nature Center, located in Texana Park is the perfect place to come face to face with wildlife. The center is open most weekends and offers interactive programs for visitors of all ages. Please visit our events calendar to view special programs hosted at the Nature Center throughout the year. Some friendly creatures that can be found at the Nature Center include Snappy Oscar the snapping turtle, Red the corn snake, Myrtle the red eared slider turtle and Lucky the eastern box turtle.
Public Outreach Coordinator, Cindy Baker also offers outreach programs for groups, such as schools, libraries or scouts. She offers them in the park or she can bring the program to you. Some of the programs offered are: Safety Around Wildlife, Scout Badges & Awards (concerning conservation, science, wildlife, and others), Wetlands, Reptiles, Birds, Angler Education, Canoe & Kayak Safety, Hunter Education, and many more.
