March 20, 2020

Dear Supporters and Friends of the Brackenridge Recreation Complex,

The COVID-19 outbreak is a public health concern that requires all of us to work together to protect our communities.

In response to further direction from the Centers for Disease Control, the Governor of the State of Texas, and the Jackson County Office of Emergency Management, the Lavaca-Navidad River Authority (LNRA) has announced the closure of the Brackenridge Recreation Complex (BRC) effective March 23, 2020 at 8:00 a.m., for all short-term camping and day use until further notice.

All short-term reservations starting March 23rd thru April 5, 2020 will be automatically canceled and issued a full refund. We ask that guests please bear with us as we work to cancel these reservations. Once the reservation is canceled, a cancellation confirmation will be emailed to you. For those guests who have already cancelled due to COVID-19 for the affected dates, our staff will be contacting you to discuss this matter further. It is not necessary to call the office about your cancellation.

For those currently camping with us, the park staff will contact you regarding about how this may affect your reservation.

Please note, this closure does NOT pertain to our long-term (monthly) campers who are currently staying at the BRC. At this time no new long-term reservations will be made. For any other questions, please call the Brackenridge Park Office at 361-782-5456 or the Texana Park Office at 361-782-5718. You may also contact our staff via email at

This is a fluid situation and we will continue to monitor and adapt our operations and policies based on what is needed at the time. The LNRA will evaluate this situation on a weekly basis and provide information or updates on our web page and Facebook page.

Although we are saddened to close, our top priority is the safety of our employees and guests. The LNRA takes this matter very seriously and appreciates your understanding as we find our way through these difficult times as a community.
