Mustang Wilderness Campground

Mustang Wilderness Campground offers adventure seekers a more primitive camping experience. The campground is located on Lake Texana near Ganado. It consists of 250 acres of wooded lakeshore and has been designated as a “primitive” area for camping, fishing, and hiking. Motor vehicles are not allowed in the campground. Pack in only. An access road, parking area, and boat launch are located in this area. The Wilderness Campground has 29 sites.
To get there from Edna city limits take U.S. 59 E, 8 miles to Ganado; Loop 522, 1 mile; FM 2982, right 2.2 miles; County Rd. 249, ½ mile to the entrance.


Rules and Regulations

Camp Mauritz

Camp Mauritz is owned by Jackson County and managed by LNRA. This camp is primarily used by scout groups. Located on the banks of Sandy Creek, with its primitive facilities, Camp Mauritz is a great place to spend a weekend learning and practicing scout survival techniques. No air conditioning, or RV's here. Just a great place to pitch a tent and join together as a group.


Reservations for camping, canoes and facility use must be received and approved at the Brackenridge Park Office by Wednesday prior to the scheduled activity. Campsite reservations are on a first come first served basis.
