The Brackenridge Recreation Complex (BRC) is excited to invite families to its first-ever Family Campout Weekend, taking place Friday, July 17, and Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Brackenridge Park & Campground and Texana Park & Campground.
This brand-new event is designed to encourage families to unplug, spend quality time together, and create lifelong memories through a weekend filled with outdoor recreation, hands-on activities, and evening entertainment.
For just $5 per person, campers can purchase a Family Campout Weekend activity armband, which includes admission to every scheduled activity throughout the weekend—including Saturday night's family entertainment. Guests who purchase at least two activity armbands will also receive 50% off their campsite at Brackenridge or Texana Park & Campground. In order to receive the discount, campers must call the park office so staff can add the armbands to your campsite and apply the camping discount.
Families who are not camping are still invited to join the fun. Saturday evening activities will be open to the public for $10 per person.
The weekend kicks off Friday evening at the Brackenridge Basketball Courts with a complimentary welcome meal for armband holders, featuring hot dogs served by the BRC staff (while supplies last). Guests can then gather around the campfire for traditional s'more making or put their creativity to the test during a friendly s'more-making competition. The evening wraps up with a glow-in-the-dark obstacle course designed for children and adults alike.

A Family Mini Golf Challenge at the Brackenridge Mini Golf Course, where participants can enter for a chance to win one free night of camping.

Track Making with Shelby and her team at the Texana Community Education Center.

All-day crafts at the Education Center.

Open board games inside the Harry Hafernick Recreation Center.

A Homemade Ice Cream Demonstration where participants will make and enjoy their own frozen treat.
The excitement continues Saturday evening as families gather once again at the Brackenridge Basketball Courts for Light Up the Night, an evening packed with entertainment. Guests can enjoy a craft tent, yard games, food trucks, and music from DJ Kevin Stancik during a glow-in-the-dark dance party. The evening concludes with a spectacular LED Kite Show beginning around 9:00 p.m., lighting up the night sky and bringing the inaugural Family Campout Weekend to a memorable close.
