BRC Adventure Days

Every day is an Adventure at the Brackenridge Recreation Complex! We hope you will join us for all of our Adventure Day Activities!

Each session starts at 8:30 am and concludes at 11:30 am with the exception of the final session, Party in the Park Day, where lunch will be provided. That session will conclude at 12:00 pm.

Pre-registration is required for all Adventure Day activities. This helps us ensure that we have adequate supplies and staff. All registrations must be received by June 3, 2019.

Registration cost varies with each session from FREE to $10.00.

*Please note the “The Art of Gardens” class on June 12 will be limited to 20 participants and “An Alarming Idea” class on July 10 will be limited to 30 participants.

June 12: The Art of Gardens

Join the Jackson County Master Gardeners for a program to help children appreciate the art of gardening and understand the importance of gardens for us and wildlife. Students will be able to create and take home their own unique minigarden. Basic planting container, potting and plant materials are provided, along with some whimsical accessories.

June 19: Outdoor Cooking

In this Outdoor Cooking adventure, Scout Master William Reeves & Girl Scout leader Elizabeth Sommerfeld will teach the kids how to cook around a campfire. Students will learn several different methods used when cooking outdoors such as open flame, foil packets, box ovens, and Dutch oven. Join us for a yummy good time!

June 26: Fishing Frenzy

During the Fishing Frenzy Adventure, you will be able to enter a fishing derby challenging all who participate to see who will catch the biggest, smallest, or the most fish. Medals will be awarded to the winners!

July 10: An Alarming Idea

The Children’s Discovery Museum of Victoria will be presenting their Electrical Engineering program. Students will explore the world of circuitry as they learn to read simple circuit diagrams and work as a team to build a complete alarm circuit with light and buzzer!

July 17: Party in the Park

Don’t miss out on some summer fun at the last Adventure Day! What better way to celebrate the last Adventure of the summer than with paint and Nerf gun wars along with a water day party! This year we will have the field set up for water gun paint wars as well as Nerf gun wars! Students will need to bring their own Nerf gun equipment. Don’t forget to bring clothes that you can get wet in. Lunch will be also be provided before we say goodbye to the kids for another summer.
