Jackson County Cattle Raisers Association Trade Show & Field Day
The Beef Cattle Trade Day is hosted by the Jackson County Cattle Raisers Association (JCCRA) and the Jackson County AgriLIFE Beef Cattle Committee. There will be educational programs and exhibits presented throughout the day.
Three CEU’s are available for a $10.00 fee.
Admission to the show is FREE to the public.
The show begins with a FREE breakfast provided by JCCRA. Programs will start at 8:30 am and continue to 3:00 pm. with breaks between each program for visiting the exhibits. Concessions during the day will be available from Mustang Creek BBQ.
7:30 am - 8:15 am: Free coffee and taquito breakfast
8:30 am - 9:30 am: Brush and Rangelands Drought Management (CEU’S) - Dr. Megan Dominguez (Range Specialist, Corpus Christi) and Cattle Problems Resulting From The Drought – Dr. Joe Paschal (Extension Livestock Specialist, Corpus Christi)
9:45 am - 10:45 am: Restocking Guidelines (CEU’S) - Dr. Jason Cleere (Professor and Extension Beef Cattle Specialist, College Station)
11:00 am - 11:45 am: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration Climatologist – Dan Reilly (Houston/Galveston Weather Service)
Lunch Available at Mustang Creek BBQ Concession Stand
12:30 pm – 1:30 pm: Feral Hog Control (CEU’S) _ John Calentine (Federal Trouble Shooter with USDA Game & Fish Dept) and Eddie Davis (Predatory Trapper and Biologist)
1:45 pm – 2:15 pm: Current Concerns Involving Traffic Situations – Trooper Gerald Bryant (DPS)
Trade Show will Close at 3:00 pm
Door Prizes will be given at the end of each session.
Beef Cattle Trade Show Exhibits range from cattle nutrition, cattle marketing and risk management, ranching supplies, wildlife feed and supplies, purebred cattle, banking services, fertilizer, fencing, ag chemicals, animal health, ranching machinery, and drought insurance. More exhibits are expected.
This is the second time for the JCCRA to host the event and they are excited about the show and the excellent facilities. A replacement Heifer and Bull Sale had been planned for this year but due to the drought it was cancelled. Their plans are to make this an annual show and to add a Replacement Heifer and Bull Sale next year on Feb. 8th & 9th.

Industrial High School Project Celebration Donkey Races
Industrial High School Project Celebration will be hosting Dairyland “Celebrity” Donkey Races. All of the proceeds will be for the benefit of the Industrial Class of 2012-Project Celebration.
Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 at 7:00 pm in the Main Arena
Tickets for this event are $6 pre-sale and $8 at the gate (preschoolers get in free).
The public is invited to watch these “Celebrity” Donkey Races which bring 1 - 1/2 hours of wholesome, side-splitting donkey racing action that the whole family will enjoy! Spectators can expect to be entertained by Fifty local “celebrity” donkey jockeys, so come out and see someone you know show off their riding skills! These "celebrity" jockeys will be riding donkeys in five heats and one championship race!
Each donkey brings his own talents! The donkeys get the best of care and each one is specially selected to run, buck or duck! Each show features “BUCKMASTER”, the World’s Rankest Donkey!
Pre-Sale tickets can be purchased from members of the Project Celebration group. They can also be purchased at Cobra Corner Store in Vanderbilt or Smitty’s Food Mart in Inez.

July 4th Celebration and Antique Tractor Show & Parade
The Antique Tractor Show will be open to the public from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Show will start with tractors arriving early Wednesday morning to set up in the grassy area directly in front of the Harry Hafernick Recreation Center. These Antique Tractors will range from very early models from the 1920's to the more recent 1960 models.
The Antique Tractor Parade will start at 3:00 pm where the tractors will be driven thru the Brackenridge Park and Campground.
